30/60 semibluff
5 handed Party 30
I open-raise jcth in the CO, button coldcalls, sb folds, bb calls. Flop: 8d7c2d BB checks, I check, button bets, bb calls, I raise, both call. Turn: As check, bet, fold, call. River: Ah BB checks, i bet... Preflop is routine, and given my flop c/r I think the turn bet is mandatory, but what about the flop c/r? Also, does anyone give up on the river and check behind? FWIW, I checked the flop perfectly happy with the idea of getting a free card, but when it went bet/call I felt like I had a good opportunity for a 3way c/r semibluff ala gonores. |

Re: 30/60 semibluff
not sure how good oponents are, but it's really suspicious to check a flop like this and raise it. My read would be "ok, buddy" and I'd never fold anything. The only exception is an obvious clown behind you, where it's obvious this player is a clown to the 3rd player and the clown also thinks you think he is a clown.

Re: 30/60 semibluff
what good hand that people will fold to do you also c/r in this situation? I'm not sure I ever make this move, so for me the play would be stupid, but maybe not for you ...

Re: 30/60 semibluff
This isn't a convincing flop on which to pull a c/r. Almost every hand with which one could make an argument for a c/r on this flop can make a better argument for a bet/3bet. You have to meticulously set this up with an intricate series of PF raise/flop checks and flop check-raises with good made hands. Way too much work for too little of a payoff. Turn and river are standard.

Anything wrong with a simple flop bet?
