Default Vonnegut on The Daily Show

Wow. Not my favorite author ever, but one of my new heroes. If you haven't seen this, watch it. Politics aside, the guy is one of a kind.

I really enjoyed the interview. Never read anything by him though, what are his books like?

There are not like anything else you have read. They are funny and cynical. I recommend Breakfast of Champions, Slaughterhouse Five, Cat's Cradle, and Player Piano. You probably read the short story Harrison Bergeron in school.

He is truly unique.

I'd save BOC for the end. It incorporates several characters from different novels - some of the humour may be lost if you aren't familiar with the personalities and some of the references.

I also really enjoyed Hocus Pocus. I'm can't remember but I think HP ws his first novel after a fairly long lay off. Some exellent stuff.
