Default Need Mentor

Basically here is my problem. I have deposited $50 into Poker Stars total, and lost the entire $50. First I put in $10, lost it in .01/.02. Then I put in $10, and lost it again in .01/.02. Then I put in $30, lost $3 three different times in $3 NL tournies (highest finish 263/1200) and sent $5 to a needy school friend, then lost $10 fast in a .1/.25 table trying to be cocky and the rest in .01/.02 again. What I am doing is coming to you guys at 2+2, "the guru's of online poker" and asking for help. I need someone who is willing to help me, I'll do whatever it takes. Please PM me, IM me (forthePlayy), or MSN me (NStowe@hotmail.com). I have some extra cash to throw around but mainly I want to be as good at online poker as I am in the live tables. I own all my friends and new comers at our poker nights. Just let me know, if no one has time or interest - it's cool. Thanks anyways.

Ill mentor you, but I lose gigadollars.

Seriously, playing in home games (usually short handed) doesnt emphasize the diciplined tight/aggressive skills needed to win online. Read the book posted above. Then read Theory of Poker, then Holdem for Advanced Players. When youre at a point where youre seeing less than 25% of your flops on an average day, you may notice a bit of a change.

I have to beg and pay a "finders fee" to get into a home game!

You must be kidding. No way anyone is disciplined, tight/agressive online at the stakes the poster is playing. Even the most games at 15/30$ on party are everything else then tight/agressive. And discipline seems to be a word not known amongst most online players. Come down to earth.

For the poster, follow the advice and read the book recommended. It would be a waste of time to mentor you in that shape, you first need to know the basics!

Good luck fellow

I'm not sure the limits are necessarily reflective of difficulty levels. I've been noticing that some of the 2/4 to 10/20 games are actually tougher than the 15/30 !! And I've seen some 1/2-1 games look more like rock gardens.

Excellent. You'll notice a significant change within the first few weeks.

Just some background on me to give you an idea:

I started playing online poker on and off on Paradise Poker when I observed my friend doing it a year or year and a half ago. I lost $50, then another $50, then another and another and another etc... I couldn't understand why. I had a pair of aces! What were the chances of someone else having an ace and a better kicker? Four-flush on board? Well, there's a chance someone doesn't have the 5th spade, right?

Just plain awful play that would make me throw up today.

According to my e-mail history, I ordered WLLH on 12/15/03 and started playing $0.50/$1.00.

I'm now playing $5/$10 and so can you.
