Flopped set against flush draw?
Excuse my ignorance I'm new to the forums and to poker in general, only been playing a few months but have read quite a bit. Ok onto the game:
It was 25$ N/L on-line in a smaller casino. Most the people that play there are regulars and aren't big spenders, they normally bring 10$ to the table and pray. Anyways a new guy shows up, he seems to play fairly tight then after a few hands bets 20$ before the flop. We figure him for a hand and he picks up the blinds. Later on he goes all in with a straight draw on the board. I figure he's either semi-bluffing the draw or protecting his hand. He keeps playing aggressively, when finally it comes down to me and him. He doesn't raise the SB, and I limp in with Jh9h in the BB. Flop comes down JcJs4c. He bets 20$ which would put me all-in. I figure he's on a flush draw, and even if he makes it the board/my 9 could still pair up for a boat. Plus someone needs to take a stand or else he'll keep bossing the table around. Was I correct in calling his bet? The odds are against him 1.86 to 1, but there is the possibility he has the final J with a higher kicker. PS Sorry about the lack of formatting, the hand happened earlier tonight and I didn't copy it for the translator, thanks. |
