OT- My Monitor Screen Doesn't Work

Yes, I already posted this in the computer technical help forum, but since this is the one I read I figured I'd post it here too since I know half the people in here have at least three monitors. I have been using my Dell Inspiron 5150 along with my old CRT monitor for a few months and then the other day my laptop monitor is pitch black. It still is working because when I shine a light on it you can see what is on the screen. The other monitor works, but I was just wondering what happened and if/how I can fix it. Thanks.

Backlight is obviously dead. Send it to Dell Technical Support to get it fixed. You can't fix it yourself.

I don't know much about the technical stuff about computers but did the other monitor have anything to do with the backlight going dead? Thanks.
