Default Bellagio 15-30: Put my opponent on the 1000:1 longshot?

This hand is from a very good Bellagio 15-30 game on Friday night. The opponent in question was unknown to me.

The hand:

The primary donator in the game open-limps in MP. The Cutoff limps. I'm in the small blind with Q[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]6[img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] and throw in one chip against my better judgement. The Big Blind checks his option.

The flop is: 6[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]

I guess flops like these are why Clarkmeister tells me you can complete your small blind with any two cards in the 2/3 structure.

I check. Big Blind bets. MP calls. Cutoff folds. I check-raise now to because I'm sure these two are drawing very slim and it'll be hard getting money out of them later. Both players call.

I figured the Small Blind could have a pocket pair 33-TT. However, my gut told me he probably had a 2.

The turn is: 6[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]2[img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img]

I bet. Small Blind called. MP folded.

The Small Blind's call on the turn made me think it was much more likely he had a 2 than a pocket pair. That's a difficult board to call a bet with 33-55. Even 77 and up have a difficult call here.

The river is: 6[img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img]2[img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img]

If my read is right, my opponent just hit his runner-runner 1,000:1 longshot for quads.

I checked and my opponent bet. What do you do?

Make the crying call. You're likely an underdog to have the best hand, but it's hard to know how big of a dog.

This is just my opinion, but I'm Just Another Sucker.

"I checked and my opponent bet. What do you do? "

Well, you don't freaking fold, that's for sure.

Call. I'd rather lose another 30$ than to fold to someone who either has a 6 or is playing the board. If he has the 2 you can at least say rightly, "nice hand."

shane on you dynasty. look again. if he had a small kicker with his 2 you are less than 100 to one favorite and with a big kicker about 250 to one.

still you have to call so you can say --i knew it --- to yourself.

In order of absurdity

1) Go all in and give him the option of accepting.

2) Turn your hand face up and fold and proceed to complain for the next 8 hours at the table.

3) Raise for value since he probably has a pocket pair.

1,205) Call.

First of all, it's only a 989 to one longshot . Only have had one of them happen against me so far in my poker career and it was even uglier than this one. As you obviously know, you have to call because there is some chance that you are tied, and even a remote chance that you win.

These are my (and probably everyone else's) thoughts exactly.

Given your read, you call rather than raise.

BTW, he was never a 1000:1 (more correctly, 989:1) shot. i.e. he has A2 and catches running aces or he has 23 and makes the runner runner straight.

Hero made her 989:1 shot when she took her A8 and won the pot when her opponent flopped a set of 9's.
