Default AKo in MP1

No reads on anyone.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $0.50.
UTG (poster) raises, UTG+1 folds, Hero 3-bets, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, UTG caps, Hero calls.

Flop: (9.50 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero raises, UTG 3-bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (7.75 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero calls.

River: (9.75 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 11.75 BB

I don't think I did this right... Should I have capped the flop and called down if it didn't slow him down?

Cap the flop.
Raise the turn if he leads, slow down to a 3 bet.

Just calling the 3-bet here is ok. The only hands he will play like that if he is sane is AK/KK/AA and you are ahead of exactly 0 of them.

The fact he posted the blind UTG would have me questioning his sanity.

I disagree. AQ, AJ, AT and hell, any ace might just aswell be 3-betting here. Cap the flop and lead the turn.

UTG shows JJ and MHIG.

Still not sure what I should have done but I'm beginning to think it wasn't so bad. If I had capped the flop and he continued to bet I would still call down... and it wouldn't really accomplish anything except make me lose more money if behind or make him fold if he was behind. Passive thinking or does it sound reasonable?

Why would any of those hands 3-bet? There is nothing to gain from it. And do you see AJ/AT or Ax cap preflop often?

That is just horrible advice in my opinion.

But can I assume that he would have capped PF with those hands?

Why would any of those hands 3-bet? There is nothing to gain from it. are you assuming your opponents are good players here or what? I said they do it, not why they do it. Neither did I say it was a good play to do it. They just do it.

And do you see AJ/AT or Ax cap preflop often?
yes I do.
