QJ and about the flop raise in the 2nd hand. What exactly is this trying to accomplish?

Well either that or he called on the flop with a gutshot or he totally misplayed his hand (this hand was misplayed regardless). No way something like T9 should raise this river. Any hand that is good enough to raise is good enough to cap in this spot (I didn't even see that the river wasn't capped the 1st time).

I put on 86 in first hand, and peeled one off for the flop to chase the gutshot with implied odds. This is the only hand that I could imagine would call/3bet the turn, and raise the river but not cap.

Yeah 86 and QJ are essentially the same hand in this spot. When the villian doesn't cap the turn, we can rule out QJ so we should be capping any river with both QJ/86. So no matter what hand he has, he played it wrong on 5th street.

the only hand i can figure is 99 with 1 being [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] which i can only guess you didn't want to raise in the BB, went for overcalls or figured UTG would raise on the turn, and, since SB bet the turn, didn't think they had the straight so raised...i guess

any other hand that seems close you would have bet out on the flop, i would think anyways. and any other raising hand on the river should be capped.

For hand #1- I actually had J8o for the striaght which I hit my gutshot on. However as I was about to cap the river, I noticed that JQ was the actual nuts and with lots of people in the pot I decided not to cap. (That is one of my passive leaks. Always fearing the worst)
