In general, how do you decide between this line and c/raising the flop and continuing?

I check raise the turn when villain is pretty agro, the board isn't too scary, and he is likely to follow through. I also do it with a stronger hand. If my hand is more vulnerable, or I am not too sure he will bet the turn, I check/rase the flop.
