This is a myth.

White rice is brown rice with the bran removed. Brown rice is higher in fiber, but white rice is almost always (at least in most developed countries) enriched with other nutrients like iron, niacin, thiamin, etc. So white rice has significant nutritional value, especially if you don't rinse before cooking.

That said, brown rice is a better option if the taste isn't a problem.
