funny you ask because the travel channel just aired Best of Vegas Eats show. only saw parts of it. they say Ballys has the best buffet in town. its once a week and pretty expensive but the food is unmatched.

My favorite buffet is Cravings in the Mirage. It's a little pricey (around $23 a person) but the food amazing. I always try to eat there at least once every time I go to Vegas.

If you like buffets:
High end:
Aladdin
Bellagio
Paris (especially for breakfast)
Bargin:
Main Street Station
Orleans

The Bally's buffet mentioned is the ~$60 Sunday one that is very special and not to be confused with the regular Bally's buffet.

The buffets mentioned above are consistently above average and you will find others cheaper but be careful....some aren't worth the money and some are pretty bad.

Do you want cheap, or good?

If you want Good, LV has many great restaurants.

Picasso (Bellagio), Alize (Rio), Nobu (Hard Rock), and about 100 others come to mind. Go to your local library, and borrow any guide book.

If you're looking for bargains, consider these (in addition to buffets) -- prices may be a bit higher, but you get the idea

Golden Gate (downtown) $1 shrimp coctail
Ristoriante di Fiore -- Prime Rib Special or Steak and Eggs $5
Redwood Bar and Grill (California Downtown) 16 oz porterhouse steak $15 ish (not on the menu -- ask for it)

Alladin has the best buffet in my opinion, but Commanders Palace was the best meal i have ever eaten in my life. Pricey though, around $600 for our family of 5.

Check citysearch.com, they will have reviews of almost every restaurant in Vegas.

My wife and I really enjoyed Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris. Excellent, but expensive; it was our major dining splurge while we were there in Dec.

For steaks, I highly reccommend Craftsteak at MGM, its kind of pricey, was ~175 for 3 people, but the kobe steak is the best ive EVER had
