Default Golf clubs or 2-4?

I just removed all but 1200 from my bankroll so my wife can remodel the kitchen w/o going into debt. Admittedly it was not a huge amount, only about 4 grand.

I am a recreational player playing 6-12 or 8-16 live or 3-6 to 10-20 on the internet. I have been a small winner but i enjoy the game and have been happy just keeping my head above water. So now I have only a short roll which I plan on either trying to build up playing 2-4 on rthe internet or buying new gold clubs and getting back to playing golf. I haven't played in several years but used to be about a 12 handicapp. I figure to outfit with medium expensive clubs new bag and shoes will take most of the roll. I know I do not have it in me to play for smaller stakes than 2-4.

So what do you think. Golf clubs or 2-4?

If I go woith golf clubs I will have to take a poker vacation as I cannot aford both nor will the wife let me spend time on both?

2-4. The sooner you move up, the sooner you move up, the sooner you can take 1200$ out and not care.

I need more info. Is your wife the type of woman who will nag you constantly about what style cabinets you should get or what this or that should look like, or where this or that should go? If she is, then you want to be out of the house playing golf all day. If not, then stick to poker and build up the roll.

Build up the roll so you can play a decent game and withdraw regularly for green fees.

I'm torn here. Kind of in the same dilemna myself. Part of me says build up the roll, and withdraw later. The other half says you could get irons, shoes, etc, for $600-$800, and with so many bonuses out there, you can rebuild a 2-4 roll pretty quickly.

I got to know where you shop. I paid $2,000 for my set. Just the clubs.

To the OP. This is really a silly question. Build your roll, and with the money you make, buy new clubs. Unless you gamble on the coarse.

$20 holes, anyone?

OK, I thought he just needed irons, a bag, and shoes. Reading it again, yeah, if he needs woods, it'll be more.

There are always nice iron sets on close out at $199-$299 at my local shops. Cleveland, Tommy Armour 845 oversized, etc.

That's not a bad deal. Last time I checked the Titleist 962's were running around $400. Honestly, that's dirt cheap for a set of Titleist. The woods are where they get you. The newer version of the 975D is running $600-$700.

It's an expensice hobby. Green fees, balls (lots of balls), beer, tips...I could go on.

After blowing poker and golf money on the kitchen, she better be in there cooking something. But something tells me that won't happen.
