Pocket Jacks lots of agression
Just sat down at CP 8-16. No reads no familiar faces. Lots of Chips at the table. Post in the big blind. Fold to a raise. Post small blind. Fold to a raise. Get pocket Jacks on the button.
A couple of folds UTG+3 limps, next guy raises, two folds. I threebet; blinds fold. Limper calls two cold. Original Raiser says "Nice hand hoss" as he four bets. I call as does the other guy. Flop is 10 high with two diamonds. First guy checks second bets I call waiting to raise a safe turn. First checkraises and, second reraises and now its two bets to me. I fold. Reasonable of stupid. You decide. |

Re: Pocket Jacks lots of agression
I think this is fine.
You are not in great shape against the normal capping range of most standard players here. You have two outs if drawing (maybe even 1 if you don't have the J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]). Even when you are ahead (rarely) you almost always are dodging at least the As and Ks if not also the Qs, and very likely the diamonds as well. So, when you're behind, you're way behind. When you're ahead, you're barely ahead. From the way it looks, the hand may also get quite a bit more expensive. I like your line on the flop, as the pot has gotten so big that you can't defend against hands with two overcards or pairs, and a non-diamond, non-overcard turn will greatly increase your equity. Are you planning to simply fold to an A or K turn? I think this should probably be the case. |

Re: Pocket Jacks lots of agression
This is one of the hands, that if you showdown, it will be 4 or more BB's later, you'll be second best, and you'll say "Why didn't I fold, I knew I didn't have the best hand"
Nice laydown. |
