Re: Blind Defense against a poster.
[ QUOTE ]
I'm curious who doesn't defend with A2o. [/ QUOTE ] Depends quite a bit on the action and the player who raised. In a full Party 30/60 game, I'd muck A2o in the BB against a tight early position raiser if it got folded around to me. Wouldn't even have to think twice. Of course, I'd pretty much always defend against a new CO poster, however. Were you only talking about this latter situation? |

Re: Blind Defense against a poster.
getting 3.5:1 against a player with a wide range of hands, I'd call and check the flop without even looking at my hand. After he bets, there are many flops that I would run a bluff on still without looking at my hand.
If the flop doesn't come down like I'd like it to, or if he calls my check-raise and turn bet, then it's time to look at my cards and figure out what to do, which means bet/call with a pair, or check/fold without one. -Eric |

Re: Blind Defense against a poster.

[ QUOTE ] or who does with J3o, 72o [/ QUOTE ] probably someone who uses pokerstove too much. and doesn't understand position. [/ QUOTE ] I don't use pokerstove and I understand position and I'd defend any 2 here. His position isn't going to make his crap any prettier after he misses the flop and I check-raise. -Eric |

Re: Blind Defense against a poster.
[ QUOTE ]
I agree that I raise any 2 as the CO here, but that doesnt mean you should defend with any 2 unless you know the CO plays very poorly. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, you should probably 3-bet and lead any 2, or whatever the equivalent move is for you. By the way, I don't raise any 2 in the CO for exactly this reason. In my opinion, everyone has figured this move out and they play very well against it. -Eric |

Um, if I was CO here my range would be precisely any 2, so I'd defend pretty liberally here. [/ QUOTE ] wow, this one shocked me. you guys actually do this? |

[/ QUOTE ] Being out of position with no initiative with hands that are impossible to play postflop sucks. That's why I don't defend any 2. |

Re: Blind Defense against a poster.
as interesting as what to defend with is wether or not always raising in the c/o with any two is still a viable strategy or if it is now so widely understood that you must show some restraint. i backed off the total trash hands after i realized that i was hoping someone would raise or limp early since if not i would feel like i had to raise with my 72 or whatever.
id be interested in what others are doing in this situation or if the "standard" raise any two is still standard. matty |
