Bet the flop? Bet the turn?

Wondering about both postflop streets.

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG (20/13.5/1.25) calls, MP calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (4 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, MP folds, SB folds.

Turn: (3 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 6 BB

i play it the same i think...theres still a few Ax hands and PPs you are ahead of, and check/call and check/fold suck imo so i cant see what else to do...

But isn't there a good chance that these hands check behind on the turn if I check? So if I check/ fold the turn, I rarely fold the best hand and if he checks behind, then I will see a showdown. No? Is check/ folding the turn really that bad? I agree that check/ calling is awful.

Bet folding is the most natural play. It's the play almost all of us would make given that we want to make a quick decision. However, I think check folding is best. I think those who advocated bet fold missed villians stats. A tight UTG would only call with a straight draw or trips or a better nine. I see UTG having JT, QJ, QT, KQ, AJ, AT, A9, KT. Hero only beats one of those hands.
