5/10 HU, two hands

Ok, I have very limited limit experience, just a few thousand hands at 2/4 full ring mostly, with a tiny bit of shorthanded. But I'm clearing a bonus at this site, and they have very few games running so I decided to sit in at 5/10 and see how it goes (the games in general there are pretty soft, so I wasn't too afraid).

Ok, about 20 hands into the session this comes up:

Villain raises PF on button, I call with 45[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (getting 3:1, easy call right?)

Flop (2BB): 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I check, villain bets, I raise, villain takes a loooong time and 3-bets (he folded the first time I checkraise the flop, this is the second time), I cap (is this a waste?), villain calls.

Turn (6BB): Some rag.

I check/call.

River (8BB): 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check/call....

So besides the river which is terrible, what's the best way to play this?

I have QQ in BB. Villain raises, I 3-bet, villain calls.

Flop: 579r

Villain checks, I bet, villain raises, I 3-bet, villain calls.

Turn: rag

Villain bets, I call(?)

River: rag

Villain bets, I call(?)

If he can fold A high I might bet the turn in Hand 1.

In hand 2, I think I would raise the turn again, and call down if 3bet.

when i am defending my blinds i only check raise with pairs. i have had a lot of success running what me and friends call a "stop and go" when you flop a peice just call his flop bet and then lead the turn. you'd be surprised how often they fold when faced with this turn bet. the problem is you can overuse this concept. the stop and go is only for certain times when you are out of position.

I'm a huge donk HU and jason_t can confirm, but I think you can fold the 45s preflop and raise the QQ on the turn.

I don't see the point in capping hand 1 on the flop unless you're going to lead the turn or you think it will get you a free card.

Agreed. Capping the flop is fine, but you need to lead the turn. Or you can just call the 3-bet and check/call the turn. It's close but I usually opt to cap/bet out just for the sake of being aggressive with a weaker looking hand.
