Re: Death Penalty Poll
Wow, sadistic, I love it. But why 18 min. Why not starve him until he's so hungry he'll eat anything and then give him food with parasites in it. The parasites will then eat his body from the inside out. MWAHAHAHA

Re: Death Penalty Poll
Good idea.
What, you think that Hitler deserves a death as painless as lethal injection? I don't think it's sadistic to design a cruel punishment for someone who designed and planned the extermination of over 11 million people. |

Re: Death Penalty Poll
Some people probably deserve the Death Penalty. But, the murder should be particularly heinous, and you should have the guy who did it dead to rights.
However, there is a very good, non-vengeful reason to support the Death Penalty. Deterrance. If people that would kill are afraid of death and so decide not to kill because of the Death Penalty, it is worthwhile. |

Re: Death Penalty Poll
And this is a subject that YOU know nothing about.
The studies that say the dp is not a deterrent are badly flawed because there is such a long delay between sentencing and execution. Of course people are not going to be deterred by a death sentence, because chances are it will never be carried out. Look at the backlog in California. Scott Peterson probably won't be executed for at least 25 years. You've, uh, proven that you know nothing about the topic. |

Re: Death Penalty Poll
The burden should be on those suggesting that it is a deterrent. Do you have any evidence suggesting it is? It looks like the only evidence offered (flawed as it may be) suggests that it isn't a deterrent.

Re: Death Penalty Poll
No, and there can't be accurate studies done until executions start being carried out more swiftly.
It's just a fact. Most death row inmates in this country die on death row. The appeals are endless and a fair amount of death sentences are overturned on appeal. |
