Default K9s BB - kill me

Absolute 2/4, 3 or 4 people to a flop type of table. CO is pretty aggressive, MP2 is normal/unknown.

MP2 limps, CO limps, SB folds, Hero checks with K9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Hero checks, MP2 bets, CO calls, Hero calls

Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Hero checks, MP2 checks (darn it!), CO checks (darn again)

River:2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] puke
Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO checks

My brilliant plan to checkraise the field on the turn totally failed. Flop aggressor was supposed to keep betting and if he didn't the aggressive CO should have bet and I could blow MP2 off his flush draw.

Ugly river, maybe should have bet and folded to a raise, but at the time I thought someone (CO) might bluff the flush card and I could call and see showdown for the same price. No way MP2 checks a flush there.

Thoughts?

The river check is horribly weak.

ALL of the checks are horribly weak. Just bet out on the flop and dont stop betting or raising.

All checks are weak, even if I'm planning to checkraise? Doesn't make sense to me. Flop smoothcall was to set up turn checkraise.

As an alternate line, you could staple a piece of paper to your forehead that says "HEY! I FLOPPED TRIPS! WATCH ME SLOWPLAY!"

Betting into aggressive opposition with near-lock hands is surprisingly deceptive.

Flop smoothcall turn checkraises give away your hand. Also, what hand didn't raise preflop that bets this flop and then bets this turn after being called twice on the flop?

Bet. Someone might even raise which would make 3-betting fun and possible.

True, and that's my line most of the time, if not nearly all the time. However, I doubt I'm getting raised on the turn if I bet out, but there's a good chance one of the other two will bet.

Is this play flat-out bad to pull every now and then?

Fastplay is the new slowplay.
