Stupid topic: Difference between $6s and $11s?

I know everyone here insists there is no difference between the $6s and $11s.

But I recall seeing a post showing the # of players remaining for each blind stage, and there being a noticeable difference as you moved up each buy-in level.

I feel like I've noticed this, e.g. commonly entering level 4 8+ handed in an $11 vs. 6 handed in a $6. People also seem to play tighter in these later stages in an $11 vs. the $6s where level 4 is when people start dropping like flies.

I dunno, my sample size is admittedly not significant. But any $6s players notice the same and have any advice on how to outlast this short-stack period? I'm finding myself busting a lot in 6th or 7th now because I'm constantly <10xBB.

The 11s aren't as trivial as people make them out to be--maybe 3 years ago when you could literally (not figuratively, literally) fold your way ITM, but not now. The 11s will go to 7 handed 150/300 more often than the 6s will.

Only difference is you are paying double rake at the $6's. I have never heard of someone beating the $6's but failing to beat the $11's. The $6's are the Devil!

I'm beating the $6s (40% ROI) and breaking even at the $11s (.01% ROI). Small sample size, but I know my hypothesis tesing well enough to say that there is a statistically significant difference between my performance in the two.

I'm not saying the $11s are significantly harder than the $6s. I just think the $11s are slightly tighter, and that tightness is killing my hyper-TAG play because I'm having to push just to stay at 5xBB.

I wasn't any means recommending he play the 6s, I was just verifying that they (the 11s) are a little tougher.

Personally, I think the 10s are a waste of time too. If you're going to play the 800 chip game, just play the 33s... they don't play much differently and a $1500 BR could be scrounged up by working a little overtime at work for a day/week/month (depending on your job) instead of grinding the 6$ sngs for 5 hours a night..

a) how big is ur 11 sample size? one win in an 11 could move ur roi by several points if u have played less than 100 11s...

b) u are also on a heater in the 6s at 40% roi with double-rake...how big is that sample size? u will not sustain 40% roi in 5s (or 10s)


looks like u are learning about variance and small (<1k) sample sizes...u are on a heater in one and a cooler (or normal) in the other...

there was a thread about skins, where people had vastly different rois on one skin than another...they'd play 4 on empire while playing 4 on eurobet, but after 200 tournies on each, they'd be 35% on empire and 10% on eurobet...same tournaments, same player pool, same buy-ins...variance

I only have about 250 SNGs each for the $6s and $11s. I definitely don't think my 40% ROI is sustainable. I'm guessing my true ROI for either game is somewhere between 15-25% (a total guess, maybe too high).

My question was less if I could beat the $11s (though I definitely wonder after some sessions) and more if anyone had any suggestions about overcoming the tightness difference b/w the $6s and $11s ...
