Default A question on the terms \"Mid\" and \"High\"

They aren't very well-defined, and I don't think a sufficient division is made anyway.

Right now I'm in limbo state, where I play 2/4 on party, but often the stacks will beef up to $600-$800, which is hardly small stakes. But I read in another thread that 2/4 is the wrong forum. Is this so? Where do we poor 2/4ers go?

I suggest there be 3 forums. High is relegated to $1000+. Small to <$200. Mid to everything else. This would also cut down on a lot of the crap in the high forums right now, which should represent the pinnacle of poker knowledge and whatnot.

Another thing is that, in the future, people will continue to play higher and higher stakes. As people start to succeed at the $100 and $200 tables, they will move up to the $400 tables and find themselves in my boat, and begin posting in the Mid-,High- stakes forum. It will eventually begin to get cluttered with random routine crap like I usually post. If this division isn't needed now, it will be soon.

I concur. I too play the Party $400 6 max game until I'm bankrolled for the $600 and $1000, will be in limbo too.

I almost posted yesterday asking which forum was appropriate. $2k vx $2k stacks in the $400 game is not that uncommon, and the posters who play .10/.25 responses are not always helpful.

Im a smalle stakes player who lurks and agree that 3 forums are probably needed for NLH which is quickly becoming the most spread game in the world of poker...

Oh, and I would never consider 2-4 high limit I mean in the vast majority of live venues this is the smallest game spread. Plus, from what I saw of 2-4 in Vegas when I sat the play isnt as tricky and aggressive as many High Limit players are used to.

What is small and what is mid/high?

I think that still works.

maybe dumb, but i don't get the "or"

where do the following games go then?

1. a 2/5 game involving $800 stacks
2. a 2/4 game involving $1200 stacks
3. a 5/10 game involving $600 stacks
4. a 10/20 game involving $900 stacks
5. a 1/3 game involving $1000 stacks
6. a 5/5 game involving $500 stacks
7. a 1/2 game involving $1500 stacks

All of the above are certainly things I've seen or heard of more than once. I think now would be a good time to establish the following:

-> If blinds are above $4 it goes here.

there are plenty of $20 blind posts where people discuss playing stacks 50BB and less. conversely there are tons of posts in SSNL with stacks much deeper than those discussed even in this forum (300-500 BB's and more).

I think we need 6 forums.

High limit/large stacks
High limit/short stacks
Mid Limit/Large stacks
Mid Limit/Short stacks
etc.

We can further subdivide as becomes appropriate. Probably if we can get to 36 or so seperate forums we can achieve perfect harmony.

Link didn't work for me right away. Here is a Ulysses quote

[ QUOTE ]
Things that have been tossed around as appropriate for mid-high stakes:

5/5 or higher blinds
Blinds > 2/4
$1000 or bigger stacks
very deep stacks in relation to blinds

I think as a general rule if everyone just posts hands w/

a) blinds smaller than 2/4
or
b) stacks < 100BB

in the small-stakes PL/NL forum, we'll be off to a good start.

OK, here's a rule that should help you out, fimbul.

If you're not sure which one to post it in, post it in SSNL.
