River: (T2545) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (0 players)

Final Pot: T4390

Results below:
Small blind has Kh Qc (a pair of Kings)
UTG has As 6s (a flush, Ace high)
Outcome: UTG wins T4390

Ok, after reviewing this hand I found that even though I made the final raise and got my chips in as a favourite (55/45) UTG had to call ~1600 to win ~2800 (7/4), so a good call on his part.

Of course, knowing his hole cards makes it easy, but I'm just wondering if it is plausible to call his min raise in this type of situation. If the turn seems to be a blank, then pushing the remaining 1600. He would then have to call with odds of 3-1 of making his hand, only getting 7/4 on his money.

So, in general, is it sometimes worth seeing the turn and then making the big move if it appears to be 'safe'?

Any thoughts?

What is OC?

He played it bad. You can't win a tournament being lucky like this. You played it well and he played it badly but got lucky.

So, in general, is it sometimes worth seeing the turn and then making the big move if it appears to be 'safe'? - NO

You got your money in as a favorite. read the anthology about small edges.

Those are standard plays. Some people prefer one over the other. My preference has always been to just stick it in there on the flop if I think my hand is good.

I disagree with pushing every small edge in a tourney though but in this case you're probably 2 to 1 over the minraising hand (given various minraising hands) so I would push. If for some reason you're sure what he has I would take a card off if he's the type of player that I can get in a better spot--he's not folding anyway.
