going to a foreign game tonight...could use help
supposedly this game located in a city in KY (anonymity you know) is pretty good especially on tuesdays and thursdays and is widely known, widely frequented, etc.. My uncle knows and works with the guy who runs the game, gave me his number and all that. But when I called today to make sure it was Kosher that I came out tonight and get some details he had left for the day. So now I am planning on going out and showing up with the "I'm a friend of..." and then telling him (if need be) who I am and my Uncle. Is this appropriate etiquette, or am I gonna get shot tonight?

What would your reaction be if someone you didn't know showed up and said, "I'm a friend of...." and his friend was nowhere to be found? IMHO sit it out until your uncle can at least take you to the game, because if you show up and just start throwing his name around you might get him into some trouble too. I don't mind if a friend brings a friend but a real good way to never be invited back to my home game is to tell someone to just show up at my house that I've never seen before. I'm wierd about who a I let into my home game because it's at my home and my wife and kids live here. I don't want any drunken idiots around my family. Others may be wierd about who they let into their home games for entirely different reasons (if you know what I mean).

[/ QUOTE ] eh, not sure where else to post this. If it's a backroom game it would still be smart to know someone there. If you can find someone else that will be there (knows your uncle), try to get in touch with that individual. It would be good to have someone introduce you instead of just showing up.

I'd probably get my uncle to let the guy know to expect me. That should take care of it.
