2 AQo hands vs. same dude
This guy is a fishy and plays weird. Can be aggressive at times. I show hand 1 to give some idea of what he is like. I can't quite figure him out, but he's clearly a losing player.
Canterbury 15/30 (9 handed) Hand 1 2 limpers, villain limps in the CO, I raise in the SB with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], BB calls, limpers call. Flop (5 players) (10SB): Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, BB calls, fold, fold, villain calls. Turn (3 players)2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, BB calls, villain raises, I 3-bet, BB folds, villain 4 bets, I call. River: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check, villain bets, I call. Results: Villain shows Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and MHIG Hand 2 UTG limps, I raise UTG+1 with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] folds to villain in BB who 3-bets, UTG folds, I call. Flop (HU): A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] villain checks, I bet, villain raises, I 3-bet, villain calls. Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] villain now bets, I raise, villain calls. River: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] villain DONKS AGAIN, I just call. Thoughts? |

Re: 2 AQo hands vs. same dude
I'd raise the river and call a threebet.

Is just calling the turn 4-bet in hand 1 weak-tight?

No...he's not unknown, and like I said, I can see him playing every weaker Q exactly like that.

Re: 2 AQo hands vs. same dude
This IS a very confusing player. I don't think you're losing too much by just calling the river. I'd like to know what he showed down (a total bluff is my guess but Ax or A7 also seem possible). It sounds like youve got a real live one and I think sometimes its okay to just call on the end even if you think you are better than 50% the better hand in order to encourage more chip-spewing, game-building play in the future...even pretending to "think" about folding before calling might be great encouragement for this live one.

I'd raise the river and call a threebet. [/ QUOTE ] I call players like this the 'aggro zombies'. When they get a decent amount of the flop but are worried about their hand, they hurl bets at you like a rattlesnake spitting venom. To them, backing down is worse than losing. These guys are always worth pumping for one more bet than would otherwise be sensible. I feel good about raising. |

Re: 2 AQo hands vs. same dude
Ax is by far the most likely hand, he doesn't have A7 he'd have 3 bet the turn. The guy is thinking "sweet my kicker doesn't matter now, lets bet again." I think not raising the river is a considerable mistake against this type of aggro player.
