Default Royal Poker -- math/strategies

UB now has Royal Hold'em (the deck is only tens through aces) offered as ring games.

Just curious as to what the math gurus would say is the best strategy to play a game like this? Seems like it would be a fun exercise that I might try and tackle in a day or two.

The problem is that with only 20 cards, you always have something of a good hand. The question is determining how good your hand is. Playing fixed limit makes this even harder.

Would playing tight and only betting with say full houses and quads be the best method to winning at a game like this?

Everytime you hit a flush in this game, it's a royal flush

Default Re: Royal Poker -- math/strategies

A few things I've garnered from other posts...

1. Two pair is a horrible horrible hand that will never win and at best split.

2. Three of a kind is impossible to make

3. There is only 1 straight possible (broadway) therefor connectedness is MEANINGLESS (aka JT has the same chance of making a stragiht as AT)

4. Suitedness is also relatively meaningless as there is only 1 flush (the royal).

5. High card ness and pair'ness are what matters, thus the best hands are AA/KK/AK

6. EVERY board will pair at least once, unless hte board itself comes a straight.

7. You have a 1:31 chance of getting AA (or any other pair)
