Default How many BB do you buy-in for at a Limit Table?

What is the proper amount? Or is there one? I always buy in for $50 at .5/1 and $100 at 1/2.

Usually 25BBs is enough, but I'll buying for 30-50 in more aggressive games to avoid getting short stacked

I agree 25 is a good amount. Online if you start to get low you can always restock, live you can put some cash on the table as well.

I am probably in the minority for this but if I start to lose some of my stack, let's say I start with $50 at the 1-2 game, when I am down to 35 or so I rebuy.

I do it both for my psychology and so that the other players at the table don't see me as a loser.

Well they may see me as a loser for other reasons but you get the point...

There is no need to rebuy until you are below 15BBs at a limit table.

Thats not really true online. Lets say you have 16BBs, you get to the river and lose a big pot with top set for a loss of 7BBs.

Next hand you find AA cap it preflop and the flop comes AK7 agaisnt KK and 77, but ooops party started the hand before you could rebuy and now you have only 9BBs instead of 12.

I know its contrived for limit play, but its a fairly common situation in NL.

Being all-in with the nuts is a horrible horrible thing in a cash game. Always have enough money to play your hand strongly to the river.

I also like $50 for .5/1. It usually makes you look like one of the bigger stacks, and can look intimidating. This was from a book I read that suggested you should always buy in twice what people normally do. People later on (when the table turns over) won't know whether you bought in high, or are just winning.

Actually, if I buy in for $50, and the table gets bad, when I sit at the next table, I like to buy in for exactly the amount I was at (ex. $47.50, $51.25) so I can see where I am on the session.
