Default Newb Question About Rakeback

Tried to search. I suck at it
Can someone point me to, or explain the whats and hows of rakeback. I currently play only at party .5/1, 4 tables, couple hours a day. Sounds like I'm missing out big time. Be gentle. Thanks.

As this is a rakeback free discussion zone, the only advice I would say is go to the Classifieds and check out some of the sites (www.rakerebatereview.com is a good one to start at). Write emails to the people that offer the rakebacks and ask them as many questions as you can. They will be more than happy to answer them to try to get your business. You can pm me to ask about any personal experience with it... and no, I am not a rakeback offerer. But i was in the same boat as you 3 months ago.

using the figures laid out above let's estimate that you play 500 hands per day and between 10,000 and 15,000 hands per month.

at the Party .5/1 tables, a minimum 50c rake is taken per flopped pot of 5BB or more, of which you would be directly be attributed to 5c of site revenue (or 8c of playing 6-max tables). this gives you an estimated MGR (monthly gross revenue) of between $500 and $750 (minus any reload bonuses earned in that time period).

a typical party poker rakeback of 25% (though 20-23% may be more realistic for that revenue level at party) would be worth around $125-175 per month in return. If you factor in a $100 monthly reload offer, then your net auxiliary earnings might be somewhere around $200-250 per revenue period.

while an extra 2BB/100 of cashback is certainly not bad, you might alternately look to exploit reload bonuses on multiple poker sites which will earn more money in less time (in terms of # of raked hands) than just staying at just party poker. for low limit players like yourself, bonuses can be worth as much as 10-20 cents per raked hand for just 2.5 to 5 cents of revenue (up to 400% rakeback equivalent) while the typical affiliate agreement would be worth 0.625 - 1.25 cents in comparison.

if you do decide to pursue a rakeback deal, I might to move to a party poker "skin" such as Empire Poker, PokerNOW or Eurobet, which have the same player pool (sans special tournaments and BBJ tables) and generally pay higher rakeback percentages back to their affiliates. These skins also have little or no reload bonuses that will cut into your MGR.
