Raise the river on monotone flop?
Read: SB isn't a great player, I'd say about average. I haven't been at the table too long, about 30hands, so my read isn't too great.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx SB ($9.75) BB ($5.45) UTG ($4.30) Hero ($9.85) CO ($20) Button ($14.40) Preflop: Hero is MP with 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero calls $0.10, CO calls $0.10, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: ($0.40) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB bets $0.2, BB calls $0.20, Hero raises to $0.9, CO folds, SB calls $0.70, BB folds. The .2 bet from SB seemed kind of weak and I didn't want any ace or king flush draws so I figured I'd bump it up to try and push them out. Turn: ($2.40) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $2, SB calls $2. I wasn't too sure if SB was still drawing or if they made their hand so I bet 4/5 of the pot hoping they would fold. River: ($6.40) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets $1.1, Hero ??? Final Pot: $8.60 I wasn't too sure about this river bet. should I have raised hoping for a missed ace draw that paired the river? or did he have the flush and was hoping I'd call or raise him? |

Re: Raise the river on monotone flop?
Looks like a weak blocking bet trying to see a cheap showdown. Don't let it happen. You got about $6.75 behind, I'd push the rest in the middle. Flopping a flush is alot like set over set in a way. Don't be scared of it, especially with his expressed weakness so far.

Re: Raise the river on monotone flop?
River I'd call with the odds offered, praying that he has A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I don't see much reason for a big raise, maybe a small raise that looks suspicious and will get a call from an ace?
The flop I'd raise more, maybe $1.50 to try and win it there. Turn is fine imho. |

Re: Raise the river on monotone flop?
BAD BEAT BAD BEAT
My recent stacking with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on a 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] flop vs A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] may have influenced my river decision BAD BEAT OVER BAD BEAT OVER So ya, push might be good |

Re: Raise the river on monotone flop?
I like AJ's line. Push it in. If villain plays all his made hands this way, you just found a new buddy

Re: Raise the river on monotone flop?
In the actual hand he flipped over ace of hearts and a 5. next time I'll be sure to push it in or at least make a large raise on the river. thanks for the advice.

Re: Raise the river on monotone flop?
I think this is one of those situations where only hands that beat him are calling, so I might take the cheap showdown.
