Speaking of motivation
Lately I just find myself lacking the motivation to play. I know i'm a winner (3BB/100 over 75,000+ hands) but for the past week I couldnt net one winning session (about 1000-2000 hands / day). Right now I don't even feel like playing anymore. I know it's stupid and that the downswing will eventually pass but its just really hard to find motivation right now. I actually cringe when I flop trips or a set seeing as they get cracked so often lately. I'm probably not the only one who's gone through this so my question is this ; what should I focus on to get my (mental) game back on? I even stepped back down in limits for morale reason even though I KNOW i'm a winner... but with everyday passing, my motivation just keeps going downhill. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Re: Speaking of motivation
Two things to consider.
1) You aren't *really* a winner... this may not be the case, but +3BB/100 over 75K doesn't necessarily say with a degree of certainty that you are in fact a winner. 2) You are in fact a winner, and this is a down streak. Re-read books, meditate, go golfing, take a vacation, do whatever you need to do to regain your mental focus and confidence to grind out the numbers. |

Take your wife/girlfriend away for the weekend. Read a good book - not a poker book. Do some serious gardening. Make some bookshelves. Start an exercise routine. If you have time, start a new hobbie such as learning to play tennis. Spend time reconnecting with friends. In short, accept that you are a little burned out and honor your need for a break. |

Relax. Take a few days off. Rinse and repeat if
needed. mosquito |

Re: Speaking of motivation
Take a break.
If you are not willing to take a break, enforce a stop-loss break. Make the loss amount small. Definitely cut down from 2000 hands a day. |
