So there's three left in a 2+.20 NL, and the Villian is the chip leader who I've only played with for the final table and has played maybe two hands, there's been a lot of action. Is it likely that he has a hand? I laid it down figuring he could've limped with AA, KK, AK, Kx really, but is that really likely? Is the reraise with top pair and awful kicker wrong? What about the fold after the reraise? I just couldn't bring myself to continue on with the junk I had.

I probably lay this down too. His three-bet indicates at least a king with a strong kicker if not two pair or a set. You can fold and not lose too much of your stack. If he had a worse hand all the more credit to him for earning the pot.

I think you played it alright. Raising is good- his lead there could be a flush draw, and if he hit on the turn, you'd have trouble getting away, since you'd have a re-draw to the K. His min-re-raise, especially at these stakes, makes a flush draw unlikely, and it's otherwise not a very coordinated board. I.e. I could see him doing this with a combination draw, but there is no straight draw (except maybe a gutshot), and he can't have a pair and a flush draw since you've got the K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. You've got a reasonable stack left if you fold, and since this is a $2 tourney, you're probably the best of the three remaining players.

Another option would be to call hoping to catch a K, a 3 or a club, and then push the turn if you do. If he's not drawing, then he might be scared of the club, and you'll have outs if he isn't. You're probably good if the 3 hits, though a set isn't out of the question for him- I'd expect a raise pre-flop if he was holding a pocket pair, though. If a K comes, there's no getting away from the hand, but then it's less likely he's got one, too.

But I think folding is alright, he's showing a lot of strength on a board that isn't likely to hit many hands you're ahead of.

Why not just call and see the turn? It's way ahead/way behind.

I think a call is better than raising.

If a club comes you may be able to win the pot with the worst hand or make the best hand. If you are ahead, he is not calling your raise.

If you do raise, you can raise to about 62K and get the same information which is: "I have the K or AX [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], here is a bet you can't call."

so what's the rest of your line? call flop / raise turn? call flop / call turn? the first one is making a giant pot against a tight player. the second is giving him a lot of chances to spike a 5-outer if he has a pair.

i like raise flop / check behind turn / call or bet river. if we didn't have the read that villain was tight, i'd be happy to call and try to get it all in on the turn/river.

Hero calls.

There will be T68K in the pot. It's going to be hard for villain to play middle pair here OOP. Hero has ~40XBB and should start to think about some pot control.
If villain bets I'm calling.
If villain checks I'm checking behind because:
he sounds like an action junkie, so I'll check on first principles to irritate him.
It might induce him to bluff the river.
I can make the pot right by value betting the river if he checks that too.
