Default A couple of hands from a Party $10 + $1 tourney

I've been lurking here for some time now and tonight I decided to post a couple of hands. Here they are:

Hand #1

UTG in this hand have been loose this far, he also seems to have quite low raising standards. No reads on any of the other players involved.

I think you played both hands too loosely. In the first hand, the BB was still T15. That means the entire tournament was less than 15 hands old, possibly much less. I'm very hesitant to draw conclusions about the tightness/looseness of players on such a small sample. When faced with a big raise and a call, I let AQo go preflop (and something is screwy with the hand converter post-flop...bets don't add up).

On hand 2, I let it go on the flop. 78T with a 2-flush is highly coordinated. Also, hands like JT and middle pairs are exactly the kind of hands limpers like early in tourneys. It's possible the BB is semibluffing a hand like KJ, but it's not a crime to someone get away with a bluff so early. No one appointed you table sheriff. Also, note that even if a club hits the turn (as it did), you'd still have to fold to a big enough bet. You were lucky the BB bet so little, enabling you to stay in the hand.

So, I'd have mucked both well before the river. AQ preflop, AK on the flop.

I'm sure others will now tell me to take off my dress, etc.

Hand #1

Preflop: Reraise to t225.
Flop: Good push, any other bet pretty much pot commits you. You need to protect against the flush draw, so betting is good.

Hand #2

Preflop: This is my personal preference (and it is probably wrong), but I sometimes limp AK during the early rounds. I find it easier to let go of big slick if I don't have a lot invested. If your going to raise, t70 is okay with 2 limpers.

Flop: You missed the flop. There is a flush and straight draw on the board. You should either fold or reraise as a continuation bet. Calling is not an option...unless you plan to steal on the turn.

Turn: See Flop

River: See Flop and Turn.

Hand 1: I'd prefer to have more chips to call in this situation, your implied odds are reduced when you have so few chips. Although its a little early to have concrete reads, I push if I think UTG has been raising light. After calling, I push the flop.

Hand 2: Fold the flop, after calling, turn and river look good.

It would bee nice with some more input on this subject, from other players. I feel a little like you. The blinds are so tiny at this stage that it makes me scared of beeing aggresive. The reason is that I probably am going to either be faced with a real solid hand or win t25 from the blinds. Am I silly thinking this way?

Hand #2, I agree that calling the flop was a bad move. Next time in a similar situation I will fold. But given the flop call, was the turn call really that bad? I probably don't have enought chips to bluff him out and the pot odds given to me isn't that bad with two overs and nutflush draw. Or are they?
