I would start at stars 10 cent 20 cent and then go to 25 cent 50 cent after 10k hands or however long it takes you to feel like you've 'got it.' Any smaller and it starts to get play moneyish

As I posted below I built my roll starting at the nanolimits. If I was to do it all over agin I would start off with $200 and hit the Granny bonus. Then I would stay at Paradise Until I had $500. Then I would start bonus whoring Party and skins. Check out this awesome host by Homer. You don't have to follow the advise to the tee (I HATE Crypto!), but it offers great guidlines. Oh, and be sure to get sweet affiliate deals and get some rake back!

My overall goal with my poker is to build a bankroll and eventually move my way up to $2/$4 or maybe $3/$6 (using $.5/$1 and $1/$2 as steps on the ladder).

...

My main question with this thread is how valuable nano-limit table experience is when it comes to my overall poker goal?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's not going to help you build a bankroll unless you've got a lot of time and a lot of patience. If you've got at least a decent game, yuo can probably start right up at $.50/$1. If you don't have money and want to get it the quick and dirty way, try reading this post. I know there's another one which was also very good, but I can't find it. (Try searching for "Whoring guide" or something like that...)

I assume your talking about homers guide. That one is here

Edit - was a couple minutes to late, greg beat me to it.

Try and build a roll with the highest buy in possible. 50 dollars is a decent amount for 10 cent 20 cent. Once you double through go to .25/50 then go up with the guideline apx, taking in account the types of games you can beat. If your broke or scared of losing bundles this is the best approach. I wish I had the discipline to do it 4 years ago because I was the super fish that everyone talks about on sites. (I knew how to play but had zero bankroll management online, but was a winning player live) Being a fish cost me thousands until I decided to play properly...... In my opinion if you dont have the money to invest, but you have the time (your gonna need alot of it) to play the nanolimits to grow a bankroll, but I dont think anyone needs to play less than .5/1 unless they really cant afford it.

I would say 2 tabling, 15 hours a week. It can be done in 2 months.

2 tables * 15 hours/week = 30 table hours/week
30 table hours/week * 8 weeks = 240 table hours.
50 hands/table hour * 240 table hours = 12000 hands.
12000 hands * 3 BB/100 hands = 360 BB

So at $.10 = 1 BB, that's $36, which is double your initial $30 stake... just enough to give you 300 BB at $.10/.20. Making the jump to $.25/.50 will take 1.5 times longer as the BB jump is 1.5 times larger (.10 -> .20; .20 -> .50).

Even if you tweak the numbers (60 hands/table hour, 4 BB/100 hands), you're still not going to come back with $150 without adding at least another month. I think you've made an error in judgment (or I've made a mathematical one).

Aaron, you can do a lot better than 3 BB/100 at 05/.10. I can easily clear 9 or 10 BB/100 at .05/.10. When the Vp$IP of the table is 80% is quite possible.

I think 10 is a bit high, Id say more 5-7 BB is reasonable. But I could be wrong :P
