Default Re: People who still grind out Interpoker Bonuses!!!

I can't for the life of me figure out how some people say Pontoon is a better game and/or has a lower house edge.

A "Pontoon Natural" (aka BJ natural in BJ - 21 pat) happens more in Pontoon seemingly, and I see more dealer busts in BJ.

In BJ, I know my 17 has a good chance of being ok, and 18 even better, 19 I'm virtually assured, 20 is like pocket aces.

In Pontoon, my 17, 18, 19, 20 are all hanging by a thread because the dealer wins ties ... perhaps the bitterest part of the 'pontoon pill' to swallow for my money, so unfair.

Also I liken Pontoon to Hold'em and BJ to Stud.

In BJ you can sort of gauge your opponents hand like Stud and know where you stand relatively ... in Pontoon you have no idea whether the dealer is sitting on a pat 20 or a 5, and unlike a single deck game where you can guestimate how many of x are left, multi-deck you have no chance. (although even if it was single deck in pontoon there is still 20 T's to be accounted for)

+ I can't figure out why Pontoon is so much more financially better in the payoff. Fair enough it pays 2-1 wheras BJ only pays 1.5-1, but when you factor in all the times you 'push' with the dealer in BJ that you LOSE in pontoon, that 2-1 suddenly can't look so good right?

I'm a dunce at Maths, maybe Pontoon is the best thing since sliced bread, and I've only played two sessions of it, the larger one I one, the smaller one I lost the whole bonus, so I don't have the experience to make a hard decision, but from my BJ experience it does seem like the extra info in BJ + the push factor is more attractive ... I emplore anyone to correct me if I am wrong and thankyou in advance.

Cheers,
SDM

So is the Blackjack in these online casinos shuffled every deal, or could you actually count against them?

The house advantage is only .13 percent vs. most BJ games where it is around .48 or more. That alone makes it a more +EV game compared to BJ. Also, I could be mistaken, but I believe variance is lower as well. I also think it's more fun for some reason.

I haven't looked into why the HA is so much lower, but my guess is because 2-1 pontoon payouts are much more likely than a blackjack since you can draw to them as well as being dealt them, and therefore you can also double down into a pontoon which is very fun. One final point, both of these games should be mindless since you play strictly by a strat card. There are no decisions to be made in these games.

Hate to be the pessimist here BUT...

The OP just sounds like a nOOb who got dumb lucky, and thinks it's always gonna be this easy. "Hey look! I did thiiiiiiis good!" BJ is ev- with high variance (ok, bonus makes it ev+, but I've still read more busted out posts than ones like this.)

The post totally reminded me of this friend of mine. Went to reno for the first time and won a grand playing slots.

Has gone to vegas/reno quite a few times in the 5 years since and has lost THOUSANDS playing stupid f*cking slot machines.

OP, nice win. Don't expect it to always be that easy though (ie, expect to lose sometimes also.)

I don't find the bonus that bad clearing at the poker tables + I make alot more money from the poker and it is +EV, I 6tabled the 1/2 6Max game and cleared it in under 3hrs and I beat those games for over 3BB so it's a nice hourly earn.

Well,

I don't know about everyone here, but I love these no video poker bonuses. You start playing the video poker ones and see if you think BJ has a good chance of busting.

This is the same as poker and swings are going to happen. EV is EV....it matters not if it is at 2/4 or Blackjack or Video poker. In the long term....you will get the EV.

That said...i wish i could avoid variance .

If they didn't shuffle every deal they would be slaughtered by card-counting bots.

I never said I didn't get lucky, and I sure don't expect the same results everytime. This was just an alternative to playing at slow ass crypto. As for EV it was bonus money, FREE MONEY if I lost it I didn't lose anything but money I didn't have.

First off, Pontoon is .17% HA, but that's not important, close enough. However, you are DEFINITELY mistaken about the variance. Variance is MANY times greater in Pontoon than BJ, it isn't even close.
