Default Caro:\"In Poker, Math is MEANINGLESS!\"

Bluff Magazine: Mike Caro's column: WISDOM, improve your game p.96.

"In poker, math is meaningless..." Mike Caro.

Sure once in a while it comes in handy he says but really it is meaningless. I am posting this here on David, Mathman, Sklansky and Mason, almost as mathy, Malmuth's forum to show them just how wrong they are about poker. I mean after all Caro is Doyle's poker consultant. So there!

it's not meaningless...however, it isn't everything there is to know about poker, or mathematicians would be winning the WSOP every year....(or some kids from MIT)

The 2002 WSOP champion, Robert Varkonyi, has a degree in Computer Science from MIT. There is a lot of math involved in a CS major.

I have a degree in Computer Science from MIT also. And I didn't win any WSOP tournaments.. not even one of the smaller ones.

Like I've always said, I'll wipe my ass with any degree or diploma of anyone who doesn't appreciate what they've learned about Math. Math is the mother of all subjects. Math makes you think faster and more accurately. There is math involved in almost every aspect of your life. The better you are in math the better you will be in every aspect of your life which could mean a significant improvement in your poker skills, however, remeber that poker also includes a bit of psicology and discipline.

so whomever quoted: "In Poker, Math is MEANINGLESS!" is just mad at him/herself for not being good at either one.

From a high school graduate, currently working as a Manager.

Think again!!!

Everyone knows that Computer Science has nothing to do with Math. In fact it might be more appropriate to call the degree a "Fuzzy Logic" degree. Besides everyone also knows that computer scientists are verifiably insane and inane or just plain mundane. That's why they are good at poker, they understand crazy people. Yes, a computer scientist that is good at poker just might prove Caro right. "Psychology is everything." (LoL) Oh...MIT... good school, lousy football team.
