$22: Busted steal, but getting good odds now with the action closed
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (6 handed) converter
BB (t1125) UTG (t1495) MP (t2170) CO (t1020) Hero (t1330) SB (t860) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises to t300, SB raises all-in to 810, BB folds, Hero ??? Getting better than 2 to 1 to call here (1210 to 510). I know you guys favor a call only if it costs less than 1/3 of your stack, but can I pass up this equity with 6 players still in the game? |

without a read that dude is crazy I would fold. You still have 10 bb left. If you call I would assume at best youre basically a coinflip and at worst youre hardcore dominated for 2/3s of your stack

Well it's read-dependent. If this guy would only play back at you with pairs, medium+ Aces...obviously you fold. If his range is a little wider, I think you should probably still fold. If his range is a lot wider (like, pairs, aces, all broadway, some smaller kings)...well then call!

How can I pass up a ~50% shot getting better than 2 to 1 from the pot? |

how is this going to be a coinflip? [/ QUOTE ] Let's say that SB was putting his chips in a lot of pots. I could imagine him making this play with K8+|JT+. |

That's silly. Sure, if this guy is doing this with JT this is a good call.
Now, if we run this in pokerstove A8+, A6s+, 55+, KQ, KQs, you have 35% equity. A nice +ev call in other words, even without making up an unreasonable range. |

Before you ever make the initial raise to 300, you need to have decided what you think SB's (and BB's for that matter) re-raising range is, and whether you will call if he does re-raise. If you decide that SB's re-raising range is the one you cite, and that you will call if he reraises, your equity from the times he re-raises is -26. If you plan to fold, your equity from the times he re-raises is -36. IMO a 10-chip difference is not worth the 8% chance of losing your folding equity and most of your stack. |
