Default Prevalence/importance of online collusion

I play a bit of online poker, but I don't seem to do as well online as I do in live games. I'm not gonna moan and groan about it, but it (as well as all of these "collusion" posts) make me wonder how prevalent and destructive online collusion is.

How often do you think it happens at any one table?
With 2 people or more?
Is it really all that destructive?
What can colluders do to win more money off me?
Would they even care to do it in the lower limits?
What can I do to counter it?

Thanks a million

Default Re: Prevalence/importance of online collusion

Hi Lucky,

I have only encountered suspcious activity in online low limit poker two times and I have been a regular player for over a year. That's not to say that it doesn't exist but it is a fairly insignificant amount...if you know what to look for it is relatively easy to spot.

I don't want to sound like an a$$ but I would guess your problem is more likely due to not making the proper adjustments to playing online (i.e. faster pace, fewer tells, more accurate records, etc).

Collusion definately exists online, I'm not denying that, but for the most part (especially at the low limits) it is a non-factor if you monitor your opponents.

Default i disagree completely...

when i first started playing online, my roommate and i would sit next to each other and play at the same table on our laptops. Pacific poker even lets duplicate ip's play. for other sites we would just use dsl/aol and it was VERY effective. i can imagine that since everyone is thinking about it, many are probably doing it.

Moronic post of the year. I don't play at Pacific, but someone should report this.

the sad thing is that this is wayyyyyyy more common than most will admit. i have zero doubt that there are a ton of posters here murdering the games legitimately, but this is a perfect example of someone in our midst turning out to be a fuking [censored]. i'm telling you guys, the rigged shuffle crap is not your worries. trash like this person is.

Default jesus christ...

look, i made a mistake, thats why i stopped doing it, i suppose its of no use, but great, now that the issue is brought to your attention run with it, it happened over a year ago and as i said, it was lame [censored] and we lost all of our money anyways because we didnt know what we were doing. The only purpose this served was to show that collusion DOES exist, as was the curiosity of the original poster.
