($27) Baby flush

I typically don't like playing baby flushes too strong since people do notice when they're a possible flush out there, and you can lose a lot to the nut flush. How's my line here?

I think you have to raise the turn to extract money from the bare K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] If someone pushes in then call and pray.

I like the river though, but would rather the pot was bigger when I got there.

I definitly raise the turn, there are just too many hands that are going to pay you off there.

First, if you don't like baby flushes why are you playing a small suited one-gapper in the first place.

Second, realize that you will almost always have the best hand on the turn. The ace is clearly the best spade to see there for two reasons - the most likely other flush holdings here are A-x and the ace likely paired someone.

You have to raise the turn both for value and to make a higher one-card spade draw pay.

I do like baby flushes I just don't like playing huge pots with them.

Don't play based on logic like this. Consistency arguments hold no weight in poker. It's perfectly fair to think you have the best hand at one point (or a draw to the best hand) and then change your mind later--in fact, it's a good idea.

I concur, which is why I hate the "if you called on the turn, you HAVE to call on the river" arguments.
