I'm going to buy a new monitor for multi-tabling. A 19'' CRT@1600x1200 is $250, and the 2001FP is $700. Is it worth the extra $? Why?

The same reason a BMW is better than a Hyundai.

As others have mentioned you can get a 2k1FP cheaper. I need one. I still have a 19" crt (which you cant get cheaper than 250 btw). I also drive a Hyundai!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. The rotating, portrait vs. landscape mode. Very cool.

Also, they can be mounted on an adjustable arm, so it doesn't sit on your desk at all, and can be moved around.

I remember seeing a pic with someone with monitors mounted on arms over their lazy boy recliner, with a small keyboard on the left arm, and a mouse on the right. Now that's a poker setup.

Right, you can physically rotate the LCD 90 degrees, and then have windows rotate the display, so that it displays 'tall'.

You can get a very high quality 19" CRT for under $250. I bought a Samsung 955DF for $215 about a year ago.

The viewable area on a 2001FP is much, much larger than a 19 inch CRT. A 20 inch LCD has 20 inch viewable. A 19 inch CRT is about 17 inch viewable.

That and about a million other reasons. It's not even close. I'd keep my 15 inch LCD before getting a 19 inch CRT (but 2001FP is on the way!).

Those are crazy high prices. If you're concerned about price, you can get a used 19" CRT for $40. Fry's is selling new 19" flat panels for $250.

If it makes you feel any better I'm not buying a 2001FP and going to get a 19-21" CRT. The main reason is that I play video games and LCD are not the greatest to play high end video games.

Here is some feedback about LCD vs CRT in a thread I created this morning:

Unless the vast majority of your time is spent playing high end video games, I think a 2001FP would be better. For most games, LCD monitors work perfectly and they are 100x better for every other use.
