Default Hold\'em simulator (some competition for PokerStove)

I've developed a web-based (no download) application that allows you to race ranges of hold'em hands against each other. No login is required. I'd love to hear what you think. You can find it at:

How am I supposed to get all pissy if you don't have ads on your site?

Isn't pre-beta software enough to piss you off?

In all seriousness, I may eventually have ads (emphasis on MAY and EVENTUALLY), but certainly not until I have a release-quality product.

It appears to be buggy. Either that, or my software is buggy.

What's the nature of your problem?

I was poking, poking poking, and it looks like it might be the monte carlo fucntionality doesn't converge well. When combined with the fact that you can't "re-run" a monte carlo evaluation, it's hard to tell if your numbers are off because of an internal bug, or if the monte carlo is just undersampled.

Ah, good. You had me worried there. Just ran my exhaustive sims against yours to double check. They all check out. I will run some longer monte carlo simulations to make sure there isn't any real problem there (probably not, but worth a look). I have not focused too much energy on making the monte-carlo faster, but I may do that in the future to allow for longer simulations.

Nice program, by the way. I think there's plenty room for both of us in the poker world, and if nothing else, it's nice to have some confirmation that my results (might) be correct.

I still remember when I downloaded PokerStove (this after I had written a naive implementation) and thought "WHAT THE?!@?#!@?# HOW CAN THIS BE RUNNING SO DAMN FAST"? I hope you had as much fun coding PokerStove as I did coding my simulator.

Cheers,
bachfan

Well, on your program, pocket aces versus four random hands converged to 55.872% equity after about 35 million trials.
After running mine for the same length, I get (you guessed it) 55.872%. I think I can stop worrying about this now.
