What Auto Insurance do I need?

Hi all,

I am leaving the country but since I'm not sure I want to make it permanent, I'm holding off on selling my car for 3-6 months.

During this time I want to rent the car to a friend. What kind of insurance do I need to get, and does the driver need insurance? Also, can the driver get insurance that excludes me as a driver but somehow still covers the car?

I'd go to an agent but I wouldn't trust his answers. Thanks for the help.

In some states the driver not the auto owner needs the insurance. I don't know the laws for Cali [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
