Ed Miller Changed My Life
This is one of the first hands I've played since starting poker last month that I'm knew WHY I was doing what I was doing, and that I know I played more or less correctly! Thanks, Ed!!
Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (8 handed) Preflop: Hero is CO with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG+1 posts a blind of $0.50. UTG calls, UTG+1 (poster) checks, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, Hero calls, Button folds, SB completes, BB checks. Before I read Ed I'd have folded this pre-flop, figuring "this never holds up enough to be worth it." here I knew it was a slightly out-of-position call, but the way the table was running honestly believed everyone would stay in. Flop: (6 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, SB folds, BB folds, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls. I figure I'll get at least 3 callers, I have 8 outs, which is 4.2-1, so betting here is the right move. Turn: (4.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG+1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls. There's $4.5 in the pot, and I have 4.1-1 to hit the hand, so in goes another dollar. River: (7.50 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG+1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 folds, MP2 calls. Final Pot: 9.50 BB Main Pot: 9.50 BB, between MP2 and Hero. > Pot won by Hero (9.50 BB). It didn't even matter that i won . .. i knew I could lose .. but I knew I played the odds right. Results below: MP2 has 2c Ac (one pair, aces). Hero has 7s 8s (straight, nine high). Outcome: Hero wins 9.50 BB. |
