$1050: HU Hand
Ok, Heads up at a step 5. My opponent is decent but was a LITTLE passive and loose but some big hand over hands helped him jump out into and early 3k in chips which he road to the HU. He did take stabs at pots occasionally though so he wasn't uber-passive or anything. I have a pretty tight and solid image I believe but he certaintly knows I am adjusting for HU play as I have certaintly shifted gears 3 and 4 handed.
This is the second or third HU the others I won by way of a fold, and a push by me. Re: $1050: HU Hand
i dont really like the turn bet.. but at that point i think you really need to call.. too many chips out there to pass. maybe bet like 600 or something on the turn. that 1200 committs you. holla
edit.. i know yer going for the cr on the flop, but leading aint so bad either. actually, screw it i check raise the flop. holla edit2.. ok now that i think about it, i check raise both streets cuz im a loon. its more fun that way. holla |

Re: $1050: HU Hand
Against a naked King you are almost exactly a 2:1 dog. Against a passive opponent I like betting here, against an aggressive opponent I would check raise. I feel like if you check and your opponent bets you are seeing a King a lot of the time (because of your passivity read). Am I relying too much on the read?
Note also that you are getting 5140:1690 to call the raise or 3:1, meaning it's a must call given the number of outs you have against a King. So the real question is the size of your turn bet. There is 900 in the pot and you bet 1200. If you bet an amount like 700, though, you are getting about 2:1 to call the push, making the call about EV 0 vs. a king. I'm not really certain if you get more hands to fold to 1200 than 700, except you force yourself to get allin with the worst hand the times he does have a king, and he still may fold a 5, ace high or queen high for 700. Edit: I just realized I totally misread the size of the pot with the above post because the "raise 450" does not take the blinds into account. (600 in the pot from each player). I suck. Yea, I like Apathy's line the best, there is no way a check-raise will get a fold. |

Re: $1050: HU Hand
even a passive player is going to have a hard time not betting this turn with a weak hand, especially after raising pf.
I like checkraising the turn as well. If he checks behind you get a free card, if he bets you have some FE and some extra outs that will let you push. |

Re: $1050: HU Hand
I hate your turn bet so very very much CR or check/call, sure, all day. Bet...yuck. I guess you see why =/ Meh.

Re: $1050: HU Hand
i don't like all this talk about checkraising hte turn. i doubt a passive player is betting without a king and i doubt he's going to fold much either.
you should try to see this turn cheaply, not get your money in. but as you played it of course you ahve to call the push. |

Re: $1050: HU Hand
I lead, I lead for 2/3 pot. checking is just too weak for me.

Re: $1050: HU Hand
I don't afford my opponents the luxury of being able to min-raise my BB HU when they have a short stack.
If I mistakenly did, I wouldn't check the flop when I miss. If you were going to call a push over your bet on the turn, your bet can only make sense if you felt you had more fold equity by betting 1200 than by putting him all-in. That can't be true, so your bet amount on the turn was a mistake. Irieguy |

Re: $1050: HU Hand
I like leading the flop then c/r'n the turn. Gives you the option of taking the pot down on the flop, checking to your free card, or c/r'n to a fold.
