Suspected SB Steal, Move on Both Rounds?
$10+1 SNG hand, no real reads on the villain here. I hadn't played many hands up to this point, raising a few times with strong-ish hands and taking the blinds only. I don't think I thought about any of my decisions in this hand enough. I'll post results later if there's interest.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (8 handed) converter CO (t733) Button (t745) SB (t715) Hero (t820) UTG (t765) UTG+1 (t1230) MP1 (t825) MP2 (t2167) Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 6 folds, SB raises to t80, Hero raises to t200, SB calls t120. Flop: (t400) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets t200, SB is all-in t515 So it's 315 to me with a stack of 420. Move? As well, I'd appreciate comments on my actions preflop and when checked to me on the flop. Thanks, Joe |

My 2cents... Don't know that you're getting away from this one. For starters, I would probably just call the raise PF. I would definitely pot the flop -- and push any raise. You can always runner-runner the flush |

Re: Suspected SB Steal, Move on Both Rounds?
The preflop raise makes me want to poke my eyes out with dull razors. My question to you is this: if the SB is trying to steal your 30 chip big blind, who cares? The times you're beat and go broke in a pot you've committed yourself to far outweigh the times you protect your blind.

Re: Suspected SB Steal, Move on Both Rounds?
I would just call pre-flop. As others have mentioned, it isn't worth trying to defend your blind any more aggressively than that in the early rounds.
Once you get to the flop, I would bet ~2/3 pot if checked to, or call any reasonable bet if the other guy leads out, with the intentions of getting a reasonably cheap showdown. |

Re: Suspected SB Steal, Move on Both Rounds?
I defend my blinds when I have an Ace by pushing. Sometimes I skip the Ace requirement.
Not a big sample size and perhaps reckless but it seems to work for me. -- tjh |

Thanks for comments.
In this particular hand I called his push on the flop and got shown AK. |

Fold pre-flop. I would need at least AQ to even care about his steal raise and even then I wouldn't re-raise.

This seems like a terrible idea when the blinds are small.

This is a terrible idea when the blinds are small. [/ QUOTE ] Blinds 10/15. Folded to SB who minraises to 30. Hero in BB pushes for 800 with A2o. I'm hoping you don't actually do stuff like this. |
