Default Dial- up

I just moved into a new house out in the middle of nowhere. Here's the problem. I can't get cable internet out here. Right now we have Netzero. Does anybody out there use dial -up to play poker? How good is the connection?

I use a dial-up at my luddite girlfriend's apartment and it works surprisingly well. I think it's 45K.

I use it as a backup and have 8-tabled. I get a little more lag, but it's not bad. My only issue is remembering to click something in the ISP's browser so it doesn't decide that I'm inactive and time me out.

I too found myself in that same situation as yourself. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd guess that you are not eligible for DSL either. What I would recommend as an alternative to cable internet, is a wireless internet connection. There is some great technology out there right now, and you're in a perfect situation to give it a shot. dslreports is a great search engine for broadband carriers around your area. You can read other users reviews of any of the ISP's in your area.

I have a bad dial up (24K - 26K) and can four table with no problems. I have never tried more but would think it would still work.

I'm rural. Actual speed of my dialup is 28.8K. Just finished 3 hours of 12-tabling with no problems. Lately, though, I've been getting a marked increase in short-term disconnections (that come right back up without my doing anything) and the dreaded "internet delays 12 seconds" followed by the near-kiss-of-death "internet delays 14 seconds". From what I've read, though, I think that's not the fault of my dialup connection.

For Poker it seemed like my Talk America Dial Up (with the call waiting disabled feature) was just as good as my current Comcast cable internet.

However, for the efficient downloading of hardcore action it isn't even close.
