Default Continuation Bet?

I'm a fairly inexperienced player. I tend to play weak-tight, so I've been working on my aggression.

So, here's the situation:
Middle of a B&M tourney. I just got moved to this tablo, and haven't seen the villain play.
Blinds 500-1000. I'm on the button with T14,500, the villian's in the small blind with ~22,000. I have (K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]).

All fold to me, I raise to T3,000. Villain calls.
Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Villain checks.
What do I do?

Hum, you got yourself into a tough spot here. He's either trapping you or he's not. You're gonna have to make some kind of read on the villain and choose between pushing or check/folding. I don't think either one is correct 100% of the time, but I lean towards pushing.

Regarding the "turn check-raise resteal"...

I'm not sure we have enough chips for that play. It may work if villain min-bets, but what if he puts us all-in first? What if he hits the turn card? If I'm putting all my chips in, I'm doing it on the flop. I wouldn't want to get villain any more invested in the pot than he is already.

if he puts us all in first, we say thank you for letting us know you have us beat.

The move on the turn looks so much stronger because it befouls the "continuation" bet, that could mean anything.

A move on the turn carries so much more potential strength rather then a move on the flop.

Do you think I put myself here with my pre-flop play?

What would be a better move in this spot?

K J 4 flop would have made this move a lot stronger in my opinion. Without a read, the only thing i would avoid is a moderate size raise on the flop. He very well may have missed, you dont want him to blow you off the best hand with a check raise.

I like the check-push turn line best I think. 2nd best check fold if you dont improve.

I take back my previous suggestion of pushing.

Given that you have no info on SB I would give him some respect for a hand to call your PF raise.

If he made a loose call your 2:1 against in the hand.
{ AA-KK, 88-77, AKs-A2s, KQs-K8s, QJs-Q8s, JTs-J8s, T9s-T8s, 98s, AKo-A2o, KQo-K8o, QJo-Q8o, JTo-J8o, T9o-T8o, 98o}

If he made a tight call your 3:1 or more against in the hand.

I think I'd check it down and fold to anything but the smallest river bet if I improved.

If you push the river you have to be getting him to fold 2/3 of the time as you are laying 11.5 to win 7. I think he should be calling alot more than this with his range of hands, plus the fact:
1) the pot is laying him 18.5:11.5 ~ 1.6:1
2) villain would not be crippled if he loses
3) hero is bluffing in a spot like this more frequently than normal.
