A Great Example of Not Folding In A Big Pot
So this was the most difficult hand that I had to play the whole night. I would love to hear comments about my play on all streets after PF, which I think is extremly standard. With a price that is so good the whole way can I ever fold this one?
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP1 raises, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls. Flop: (13.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) MP1 bets, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Hero raises, MP1 3-bets, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Hero calls. Man o man would I love to see the Q or 10 of diamonds on the turn.... Turn: (12.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) MP1 bets, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Hero calls. Well now I'm getting 15-1 and can close the action so I can't fold here.... River: (16.75 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) MP1 bets, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Hero calls. Now I only have to win this hand 1 out of 20 times. I feel like folding is a huge mistake. Final Pot: 20.75 B |

Do some people actually fold this hand? I would've played it the same.

I think I'd play it the same... sometimes... because..
I might raise the turn or cap the flop; of which I'd probably prefer raising the turn and folding to a 3 bet.... and checking behind on the river... would that be a good way to gain more from the drawing hands or am I making some kind of mistake with that line of play ? |

I think we have too much equity on the flop not to cap.

Check out the micro limits too, a little more orientated towards these ideas. |

Re: A Great Example of Not Folding In A Big Pot
Already ordered small stakes hold 'em two days ago... It will probably be delivered after the weekend along with
- 7 card stud for advanced players - tournament poker for advanced players - the theory of poker - the psychology of poker hopefully these books will make me a better all around poker player... I kinda like learned the game myself with the help of some sites at the beginning, then I ordered hold 'em for advanced players, but I'm still playing small stakes hold 'em, any other books you could recommend ? |

Re: A Great Example of Not Folding In A Big Pot
folding to a three bet is a bad idea and thus, so is raising the turn. you've got 3 outs to the nuts as it is and you're getting 15-1 plus a chance that you're hand is good or you'll improve to two pair that will be good.
not the place to raise for a free showdown because you surely can't fold if you're three-bet. -WT |
