Inexpensive 4-table monitor

Any suggestions out there? I have a 17" 1280x1024 dell right now. I am currently playing .5/1 so I don't have a lot to upgrade with. Or would I be better off buying a second monitor (which my video card supports)?

buy a used 1600x1200 CRT. try craigslist, or whatever other service is good in your area - you don't want to have to ship it.

just make sure the refresh rate is decent, like over 75.

I played on an old CRT for about 7 months, until I splurged on a 2405.

I have a Dell 3000. So if I buy a used monitor of whatever brand- do I need to be concerned about compatability? How do I know if the attachment (prong part that plugs into my computer) will fit? Also- I know the video card may be an issue. Seems easy enough to switch, but how do I figure out that my current card does or doesn't work?

I got a 19" CRT Samsung 990DF bought off newegg. 1600x1200 and way cheaper than a 2001fp. Works great, and does exactly what i need it to do.

Don't worry about your video card. If your video card can't support a 12x16 monitor, then there's no way you can even get on the internet because your computer is so old. All monitors with be compatible w/ your computer. They haven't changed those at all for almost ever.

dell sells computers today that won't support 16x12 out of the box.

basically, the requirement is that you have 4MB of VRAM (video memory) for each 1600x1200 display.

CRTs are really a good price. Some of the best crt out there are sony crts. You might as well get a 21in for the price you can grab. Just make sure you have plenty of desk space.
