With an unknown villain I just fold flop. That flop is really horrible for you. Even if he only has one diamond and 2 overcards you are 50-50. If he has a 5 or J or pocket pair with a diamond you have 1 out.
If you knew he likes to take stabs all the time but will fold to resistance AND you have a tight and solid image I can see playing it like you did, but it might be marginally profitable at best.
