Thing is there is only one more ace out there which makes it very unlikely he has it..

53/21/2.6, I'm not sure these types really need an ace to 3-bet this somewhere along the way.

Without a more specific read (that he is a total maniac who likes to spew in certain situations), I think OPīs line is much better.

Why doesn't everyone prefer raising the turn? If he was a bit less aggressive (like 1.5) would you be taking that line instead?

when i try that i generally lose him.
whereas when i just wait until the river I oftentimes get called-down with something really ridiculous that he likely WOULD have thrown-away.

however, this is all situation-dependant.
if i were to be up against this guy on the very next hand with top-pair or something I might be more inclined to just bet as fast as i can (since he's now thinking of me as a slow-player).

if i've been folding a lot to raises (because i missed with whatever) or had been showing-down some garbage or a couple of draws that his 2nd pair on the river and then held up....then that is going to effect how i play this hand.

I will fast-play it sometimes and just hope he has an A or KK or something that will keep him around.

Default play is to wait...but generally speaking I think it's a very meta-gamish type of hand that requires you to analyze whether you have any kind of image to this guy (if he's an angry type of lag-f'ck with lots of "LOL"s and whatnot then go ahead and take your chances with pushing).

I think it's a mistake to always assume that these guys just aren't thinking AT ALL.
If you mess with them on a couple of hands then they DO adjust.
even the LAG-f'cks are capable of laying down WAY before the river against specific opponents who they KNOW wouldn't go crazy with it unless they had it.
the trick is figuring out what they think they know about you and proceeding accordingly.

I often raise the flop, call the 3-bet on the flop, call the turn and raise the river.
Is this bad? I assume he thinks I'd wait till the turn to raise with a good ace. Loosing him on the flop of course is very -EV. But a lot of LAGs give it up on the turn.

Against a lagtard i'd much rather raise the flop. Slowplaying monsters against lags leaves too many bets on the table.
