Default Costa Rica Poker

I'll be in Costa Rica for a few weeks soon and would like to know about the poker rooms there. I'm staying at a Marriott in Los Suenos that has a casino but i don't think they have a poker room. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
ZeusXIX

LOL "Camisa" is the Tico word for "rebuy" or "CHIPS!" kinda like "I lost my shirt now i need to buy a new one"
also while you are there make sure to order up some queque for desert.

The only poker in Costa Rica is heads up with HUMBERTO!!!

Actually I don't know, but I will be down there July 4th to the 14th, I'm gonna get away from poker while I'm there and hang out on the beach and learn to surf.

Poker in Costa Rica is to be experienced rather than described.

"Camisa", meaning rebuy, as in "I just called and am going to lose my shirt", is often said as a matter of routine when you go all in. There is a webiste with Costa rica poker terms.

That having been said, there ARE some very good players in almost any cash game, along with some "no clue" players. There are a lot of poker industry types playing, along with Sportsbook guys. Tournaments are the most consistent game in town, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday Night.

The truth is that there is only one public place to play consistently, the Casino Europa in San Jose. Some other rooms just opened and are struggling ... the Horseshoe across from the Del Rey generally spreads a single table of No Limit in the evenings, the Herradura Hotel is psoradic at best and not really live.

The Europa is sponsoring a tournament May 16 - May 22. you can qualify online at Truepoker or, I think, at UB.

WARNING- I am hijacking this thread.

The surfing in Costa Rica is insane. I have never been but my best friend from high school was down there like 6-7 years ago and I will never ever forget the pictures he brought back. Maybe he just had awesome conditions while he was there but the pictures of these waves were out of this world. I would nut surfing waves this clean. He has a picture of him shooting down a right and coming out of a barrel...wow...I havent seen these pictures in like 2 years but the waves were so sick I just had to write about it...one day I will go(probably when I stop sucking at surfing)
