trend in commercials

I've noticed a lot of commercials that have the home video look with really really good special effects.
Examples:
-pickup truck commercial with "home video" of truck that gets hit by asteroid but keeps on going.
-SlimJim commerical with fairy godfather.

The first time I saw one of these commercials I thought it was unique and kinda cool. Now they're just getting annoying. Do you like this style? Or are you getting annoyed also?

I think that all commercials are dumb, thats why I got a Tivo.

Yeah, I think this started with those Powerade commercials with stuff like Vick throwing footballs out of the stadium, LBJ hitting full-court shots and some surfer surfing like a 100-foot high wave. Those were pretty cool but it is definitely overdone now.
